My name is Melisa and I am an artist. I am not a successful poet or a Meryl Streep...yet. "The in between" is to discuss art and what it means to be an artist. Anyone who wishes to comment is welcome. The important stuff lies in the spaces between the BIG Stuff. Those long stretches of silence, the routine of everyday life is where life happens, where potentially profound art is born.

Legend Teachers: Stanislavsky & Meisner
Konstantin Stanislavsky:
"Love the art in yourself, not yourself in the art"
"What is important to me is not the truth outside myself, but the truth within myself."
"The greatest wisdom is to realize one's lack of it"
"Do not try to push your way through to the front ranks of your profession; do not run after distinctions and rewards; but do your utmost to find an entry into the world of beauty."
Sanford Meisner:
"ACTING IS: the ability to live truthfully under given imaginary circumstances."
"Every little moment has a meaning all its own."
"Stay in the moment."
"Live fully - moment to moment- that is reality."
"Listen, observe, Listen, really look, Listen, concentrate, Listen."
"Act before you think - your instincts are more honest than your thoughts. "
"An ounce of behavior is worth a pound of words."
"Silence can say a lot - it can also cover up a magnitude of sins."
"FIND IN YOURSELF THOSE HUMAN THINGS WHICH ARE UNIVERSAL."
There was no such thing as method acting before Konstantin Stanislavsky.
Meisner and Stanislavsky were both Artistic Geniuses. They successfully taught a craft which taps into the subconscious. The Stanislavsky and Meisner methods of acting are the most popular methods of acting taught today.
